I thought science was pretty cool in high school, so I studied Integrated Sciences at McMaster University. I made an educational computer model of cancer, researched the physics of swimming worms, and met the love of my life.

In 2015 I moved to British Columbia to do my Master’s in Physics at Simon Fraser University. I made computer models of the squishy machines keeping us alive and got to travel to Saskatchewan to tell people about it. I joined Let’s Talk Science because I love sharing my passion for science with other curious minds.

Combining my interest in science, computer models, and teaching, I completed my Master’s in Educational Technology and Learning Design in 2019. I am interested in integrating programming skills into the science curriculum to prepare students for an increasingly interdisciplinary and tech-enabled world. You can read an essay I wrote on Instructional design for computational modelling. For my capstone project, I designed a week-long computational research enrichment program and founded Kasper Education.

After five years of living in in B.C. with my physicist husband and our two cats, our family grew in June 2020 with the addition of our daughter. With travel restrictions limiting visits with the grandmas, we packed up and drove back home to Ontario. We’ve now settled down in Goderich, filling our time with hikes & sunsets.

Craving connection & creative fulfillment during my maternity leave, I self-published a book of positive affirmations for new moms: Mom Has to Poop.

My early career took an interesting turn away from STEM and into the world of business & entrepreneurship. Working first with business undergrads and then with startup founders, I discovered a love for the fast-based world of business and grew my appreciation for the undeniable impact that business leaders have on our society.

Returning to my physics roots and driven by my passion for empowering youth with the skills, knowledge, and connections to create the technology we need for a better tomorrow, I will leading an exciting new lunar project with Let’s Talk Science. I truly believe there is something magical to be found at the intersection of education, cutting-edge research, and entrepreneurship – and I am honoured to be a part of creating authentic learning opportunities for Canadian youth in this space.
